What is Yin Yoga? A Slow Practice for Balance in Fuerteventura
Yin Yoga is a practice of slowing down. Unlike more dynamic yoga styles, Yin invites you to hold poses for a few minutes at a time, giving space to notice the breath, the body and the present moment. It is not about pushing yourself into a perfect shape. Instead, it is about exploring each posture in a way that feels optimal for you physically, mentally and emotionally.
Every body is different
In Yin Yoga we work with the idea of variable anatomy. No two bodies are the same. Bone structure, joint range and flexibility all differ from person to person. This means that a pose will never look identical for everyone. The focus is on sensation rather than appearance. You are guided to explore shapes and find your own version of each posture, without pressure to go deeper or to perform it in a set way.
Why practice Yin Yoga
Life in Fuerteventura can be full of movement, whether it is surfing, hiking, exploring the island or simply managing a busy lifestyle. Yin Yoga offers a slower rhythm that helps you:
-
Recharge energy through stillness
-
Gently improve mobility and flexibility
-
Develop awareness of breath and body
-
Find space for mental calm and emotional balance
Yin Yoga with Ocean Yoga
My Yin classes are guided with a functional approach and hands-off style. Cues invite you to notice your own edges and to explore what feels right for you in each moment. The atmosphere is calm and spacious, allowing time to settle, adjust and be present.
Yin Yoga with Ocean Yoga is offered on selected weekends and is also available for private groups by request. Sessions can take place in your holiday villa or at quiet outdoor locations in the north of Fuerteventura.
Try it for yourself
If you are used to more dynamic yoga, Yin can feel like a completely new experience. Slower, quieter, but equally rewarding. Whether you are new to yoga or already experienced, this practice meets you where you are.
